Bryan beats McNeil 2-1 in extra innings to grab series lead
MUMFORD, Texas -- The Texas Aggies have Olsen Magic, now the Bryan Vikings have Mumford Magic.
Casey Skalaban's game winning hit drove in Colin Fry in the bottom of the 9th to give the Vikings a 2-1 victory in the first contest of their three game Region II semifinal series with Round Rock McNeil. It's the second straight walk off win in extra innings for the Vikings in Mumford. Austin Gallego delivered the game winner Saturday as Bryan completed their sweep over Belton.
Ty Culbreth struck out 8 and allowed just two hits to pick up the win tonight. McNeil's Austin Hinkle was very impressive himself, giving up just three hits to Bryan.
Bryan's first run came when Hinkle hit Zac Slaydon with the bases loaded in the bottom of the fourth. Jacob Huckabay came into to score and give the Vikings a 1-0 lead.
The Mavericks equaled the Vikings in the top of the 5th, getting their run when Jacob Huckabay's throw to try to get a bunting Tim Hunter at first was off the mark and Sean Mason came in from second base.
The series now shifts to Dell Diamond in Round Rock for game two Friday night at 7 p.m.
If necessary game three will also be at the Dell Diamond Saturday at noon.
