Texas A&M's Chafee Wins Pin Oak Collegiate Invitational

KATY, TX -- Texas A&M senior Lia Chafee defeated Fresno State’s Holly Elsbernd on Saturday afternoon to win the second annual Pin Oak Charity Horse Show Collegiate Invitational at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center.
Chafee downed Elsbernd 82-80 in the finals to claim the title. She defeated Gabrielle LeBoeuf of LSU 84-68 in the quarterfinals and Baylor’s Kara Fergusson 85-80 in the semifinals.
A native of Little Compton, R.I., Chafee leads the Aggie fences riders with an 8-4 record this season and has collected two MVP awards. The All-American will end her career next month as the winningest hunter seat rider in school history.
Texas A&M returns to action on Friday when the third-seeded Aggies open action in the Big 12 Championship in Manhattan, Kan. against second-seeded Baylor in the semifinals.
