Fort Worth's John Peterson Claims Miramont Country Club U.S. Open Qualifier
BRYAN, TX -- The road to the 2012 U.S. Open Golf tournament making a stop at Miramont Country Club in Bryan Monday for a qualifying tournament. The top eight golfers in the field of 132 advancing.
Fort Worth's John Peterson won the qualifier with a 9 under par 63. Lonny Alexander of New Braunfels came in 2nd after a 5 under 67. Westlake's Tyler Dunlap (a), Andrew Lawson (a) - Dallas, tied for 3rd with a 4 under par 68. The final four golfers: Andy Stumpf - Spring, Draegen Majors (a) - Oklahoma City, Pablo Acuna - Humble, Steve Gilley - The Woodlands, all advanced after shooting -3, 69.
Miramont Director of Golf Brad Lardon was looking to advance, but shot a 2 under 70 and missed an opportunity to advance by 1 stroke along with Houston's David Lee (a), Cash Wilkerson (a) - Spring, Devin Carrey - Surrey, and Cameron Hollek (a) Arlington.
