Houston Texans Sign CB Alan Ball and RB Justin Forsett

HOUSTON – The Houston Texans signed unrestricted free agents CB Alan Ball and RB Justin Forsett to their roster today. Terms of their contracts were not disclosed. Houston also released RB Javarris Williams.
Ball posted 101 tackles (86 solo), three interceptions, 14 passes defensed, a half-sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery playing safety and cornerback for five seasons with the Dallas Cowboys. Selected by Dallas in the seventh round of the 2007 NFL Draft out of Illinois, Ball started all 16 games in 2010 at free safety and registered career highs with 45 tackles and two interceptions. He played under Texans defensive coordinator Wade Phillips in Dallas from 2007-10, while Phillips was head coach of the Cowboys.
Forsett has amassed 1,287 yards rushing, 730 yards receiving and eight total touchdowns in his five-year career. The former Cal standout has averaged 23.0 yards on 38 kickoff returns and 8.1 yards on 46 punt returns in his career. A seventh-round pick of the Seattle Seahawks in 2008, Forsett spent three games with the Indianapolis Colts as a rookie before he was re-acquired by the Seahawks for the final 11 games of the 2008 season. In 2009, Forsett led the Seahawks with four rushing touchdowns and ranked second on the team with a career-high 619 rushing yards on 114 carries (5.4 average).
