The Brazos Valley Renegades 18-U Maroon team claimed the AAU National Championship title on Sunday at the Jet Blue Park in Ft. Myers, Florida. BVR beat the Tallahassee Baseball Club 3-0 on Sunday to win the title. The Renegades went through the 6 day tournament with a perfect 7-0 record. This was their 3rd straight appearance in the championship game, also winning the title in 2010.
Matt Roberts was the winning pitcher throwing a one hit complete game shut out. He struck out 9 and let up no walks to get the win. All the Renegade runs came in the 3rd inning. Alec Paradowski led off with a single. With no outs, Ford Moore and Austin Baron each laid down perfect bunts to load the bases. Scott Jones doubled to right center field to score Paradowski and Moore. Eric Stegent hit a sacrifice to center field to score Baron from 3rd.
The BVR baseball club had two teams competing in the tournament. Overall the Renegades won 14 of 16 games played. The 16-U team was 7-2 and won 4th place in the underclassmen division.
