Aggies begin first fall camp under Kevin Sumlin
COLLEGE STATION -- Texas A&M held the first fall practice under new head coach Kevin Sumlin Friday night.
The Aggies worked out for two hours in helmets, shorts, and jerseys. The team will not be able to workout in full pads until Wednesday.
Sumlin and several members of the team met the media before practice today and were ready to get things going. Linebacker Sean Porter said, "Everyone's excited. Especially the freshmen. They're all riled up about it. It's their first two-a-days in college. This is my last one, so I've been around the block a couple times but everyone's excited for it."
Linebacker Jonathan Stewart is glad to finally be getting back to football. "Everything that was going on with Aggie independence day with us finally joining the SEC and us having college gameday, all that's great for the fans and everything like that, but for the 105 guys who are going into camp it's great for us to finally be able to focus on football and just do what we need to do."
The Aggies will return to the Coolidge Grass Practice Fields Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
