Brenham girls beat Bastrop to advance in 4A playoffs

HEARNE, Texas -- A big second half effort helped Brenham advance past Bastrop 59-45 in a 4A Bi-District matchup Tuesday night.

The Cubbettes led only 22-20 at the break, but outscored the Lady Bears 37-25 in the second half to cruise to the win.

Teaira McCowan scored 16 points, grabbed 20 rebounds, and blocked eight shots to help lead Brenham to victory. Angelica Darcus scored 28, 22 in the second half.

Brenham improves to 25-10 on the season. The Cubbettes will face Beaumont Central in the Area round of the playoffs.
