AAA: Texas Retail Gasoline Prices Up 3 Cents
Posted: 05/16/2013 - Retail gasoline prices in Texas have risen 3 cents this week to reach an average $3.41 per gallon.
A month and a half ago gas was $3.59 a gallon, but times have changed.
Now at that same Valero on East 29th Street, gas is $1.99 a gallon and that's big news for B.K. Newsom. He's glad the days of spending twice as much to fill his tank are over.
"I remember when it was $83 to fill up a truck, so this is nuts," Newsom said.
It is also good news for recent retiree Henry Lewis.
"I tell you what, it helps me quiet a bit. I'm retired and I'm on a fixed income so this really benefited me," Lewis said.
Even though gas price continue to drop in Bryan, College Station, you can still find it for 10 to 20 cents cheaper across the Texas.
"My Dad told me he paid $1.87 a gallon in New Braunfels this morning so $1.99 in College Station is great," College Station resident Katie Pfeiffer said.
It my be great for some, but others say they want the savings to continue after a long summer of high gas prices.
"I think they need to take it on down a little further and let it stay there forever. They break everybody and then they drop the price," College Station resident John Lott said.
