The price at the pump can be a pain.
"Seems like they shouldn't be as high as they are," said Felix Gongora.
"It seems like it does this every holiday season," said Willie Griffen.
In fact in the last week, the price of a gallon of gas has risen eight cents across Texas.
"I drive a F-150 and personally I really hate paying for it because there goes half my paycheck," said Nicole Colunga.
If you drive around town, you can find lower prices, in fact prices can differ by as much as 25 cents a gallon. If you get just 10 gallons of gas, you could save $2.50. That's practically the price of a gallon of gas.
"I just look for the cheapest price I can get. I'm looking for the best deal," said Larry Hubbell.
Right now $2.75 is not the best deal. In fact it's the worst price per gallon we could find in B/CS.
"I drive into town from Grimes Country everyday so I keep a close eye on the gas prices," said Matt Lee who found the cheapest gas in town at the $2.49 a gallon at the HEB at Tower Point.
"Everywhere else it's like $2.69 or above," said Griffen.
But there are some stations that will sell you cheaper gas for a price.
You could get gas at Kroger for 10 cents cheaper than the asking price if you have a Kroger card and spend $100 in groceries. That discount isn't just good at Kroger but also at Shell. But is it worth it?
"I think I'd rather just have the straight low price. I just don't have the time or inclination to carry around a bunch of cards or to hunt and find these places that have the specials. If I can just see the sign on the road that says it's cheaper, that's where I'm going to go," said Lee.
Maybe this is a better deal. At the Exxon on University and Highway 6, you can get gas for just $2.45 a gallon if you get the best car wash it offers. That car wash costs $12.
"I would rather have just a low price without any gimmicks," said Gongora.
Basically it comes down to one thing when it comes to folks filling up their cars.
"Price definitely price," said Colunga.
