The path has been cleared for Hooters restaurant to open in Bryan. In a ruling issued Thursday, a State Office of Administrative Hearings judge granted Hooters a liquor license for its proposed eatery at 3706 S. Texas Avenue.
In rendering the decision, the judge stated she found no evidence that Hooters would adversely effect the general welfare, peace or morals of the community. The ruling went on to state there was no evidence presented to deny Hooters' request for a license.
A group of local residents and business owners had hoped to stop the restaurant from coming to Bryan by blocking its liquor permit. Opponents made several allegations including Hooters objectifys and exploits women; it could attract sex offenders; it caters to sexual behavior; and it uses inappropriate signage.
All of these arguements were determined to be without merit.
