The Bryan College Station Association of Realtors announced today that Phyllis Young was named REALTOR of the Year at the Association’s December meeting. This prestigious honor is awarded in recognition of Phyllis’s dedication to her profession and her community throughout her years as a real estate professional.
Phyllis grew up in the Waco Area and later attended Texas Tech. After moving to Bryan, she finished her degree at Sam Houston State and began teaching at Bryan High School.
Phyllis started her real estate career in the early ‘80s and has seen the ups and downs of the Bryan/College Station market. During the economic downturn of the late ‘80s, Phyllis was a property appraiser, and gained a strong understanding of valuing property.
Phyllis has been actively involved in the Association of REALTORS, serving on several committees as well as on the Board of Directors. She has served as Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President, President and has represented the Bryan College Station Association of Realtors at the state level.
In addition to her strong involvement in real estate, Phyllis has also been heavily involved in the area’s 4-H program. In addition, she is an active member of the Brazos County Extension Horse Committee and has been since the mid 1980’s.
