A local business has received top honors from the state.
Wednesday morning, Governor Rick Perry awarded StarVision Technologies, based out of Texas A&M's Research Park, a $750,000 award from the Texas Emerging Technology Fund.
The aerospace research company is working on developing technology for government and commercial satellites and advanced missile system markets within the aerospace industry.
"One of our sensor systems allows unmanned vehicles to dock and refuel without a human in the loop, so that's something that's never been done before," StarVision Technologies President Michael Jacox said.
The money is expected to help grow the company and create several new jobs.
The funds will also make it possible for the company to develop a new sensor that can improve satellite performance while reducing costs.
