Despite a national decline in home sales, the Bryan-College Station market is not only holding its own, but showing some gains.

According to the B-CS Regional Association of Realtors, there was only a slight difference in the number of homes sold in 2006 and 2007. However, a comparison of the the total dollar values between the two years shows an increase of $21.6 million to more than $418 million in 2007.

The average amount of a home sale also jumped. In 2006, it was $144,000. In 2007, it was $158,000.

Local real estate experts say the numbers, coupled with other industry benchmarks, indicate an overall healthy housing market. Currently, the Bryan-College Station area maintains less than six months worth of inventory in the housing market.
