GROESBECK (October 20, 2011)—Groesbeck has enough water for 25 to 30 more days and Thursday officials said they’re close to an agreement that would provide a temporary source of water for residents.
The city is negotiating with owners of an area rock quarry to pump and pipe raw water 7 to 8 miles to a water treatment plant where it would be treated and then distributed.
The temporary fix will cost the city about $600,000, officials said Thursday.
The city will also have to get permission from the Texas Department of Transportation to extend pipes along the side of area highways.
