Thanks to a low cost of living and a relatively stable housing market, BCS has been named the fourth best place for military retirement.

Military.com cites that in addition to a relatively stable economy, there are no taxes on federal pensions, and with Texas A&M University's presence, there is a steady stream of culture,concerts and athletic events.

BCS is also centrally located with commissary and exchange amenities at Fort Hood, and a VA medical center only 70 miles away, in Temple.
