College Station MedPlus Set To Open December 1

Updated: Thu 12:03 PM, Nov 29, 2012

COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS (November 28, 2012) – The College Station Medical Center is pleased to announce the opening of College Station MedPlus (www.csMedPlus.com), 1730 Birmingham Rd, Suite 100. MedPlus offers primary care medical services with no appointment needed. MedPlus opens December 1 with the following office hours:

Monday – Friday: 8 am – 7 pm
Saturday: 8 am – 4 pm
Sunday: 1 pm – 7 pm

“The introduction of College Station MedPlus is an exciting concept we’ve been developing for quite a while,” said MED CEO Tom Jackson. “It is not your typical urgent care clinic – but an extended-hours, primary care center operating under the license of an established physician.”

The architect behind MedPlus is Paul Roquet, MD, who has been practicing in Bryan/Colllege Station for the past 26 years. In the 80’s, he introduced CarePlus to BCS as an extension of his private practice. CarePlus provided primary care medical services seven days a week with on-site diagnostics such as laboratory and x-rays.

One of CarePlus’ main advantages was its simplified billing process. Patients could see a doctor, Monday through Sunday, and avoid unnecessary fees such as an urgent care facility fee, or specialty physician fees for routine x-ray and laboratory. When the MED affiliated with Dr. Roquet, it incorporated his CarePlus model into MedPlus to offer a more convenient model of care.

Currently, a visit to an urgent care facility often results in numerous, separate bills. Depending on the diagnosis, patients may get a physician’s bill, facility fee, radiology bill and pathology bill. MedPlus will provide a simple “one-bill” approach to diagnostics such as laboratory and x-ray. Should your lab results and x-rays require a second opinion, additional bills may be necessary, but the goal is to offer primary care in a convenient location, during convenient times while raising the level of customer expectations.
