Updated: Tue 11:38 AM, Aug 28, 2012

Time to make the donuts in College Station? Dunkin Donuts says soon.

Tuesday, the national breakfast chain announced plans to open a location in the College Station area as part of a major expansion in Texas.

The Medallion Donuts group is slated to open five Dunkin Donuts restaurants from Waco, Temple and Killeen down to College Station, with the first opening next year. All would be up and running by 2017.

Another 11 locations are being set for Northeast Houston -- including The Woodlands -- from 2013 to 2019, while five are planned for West Houston.

"We've had incredible momentum in Texas over the past few months and are excited to continue growing the brand in new and existing markets," said Grant Benson, CFE, vice president of Development, Dunkin' Brands, Inc in a statement Tuesday. "Our secret to success is our passionate franchisees who provide a high-level of customer service to our guests every day. We believe these new franchisee partners will cultivate lasting customer relationships and become integral parts of their communities."

The company will soon begin looking for specific locations for the new restaurants.

Dunkin Donuts has announced plans to double its number of nationwide locations over the next 20 years. It was founded in 1950, and currently has more than 10,000 restaurants in 32 countries.
