It's open season for hog hunting in Washington County.
Like most counties in the Brazos Valley, Washington County has an abundance of the feral hogs. So County Commissioners offered farmers and ranchers a $5 bounty for each hog trapped or killed.
The Texas Hog Out Program is an effort from the Texas Department of Agriculture to cut the feral or wild hog population in the state.
This is a competition. The county that can eradicate more swine than other counties y can then get a grant from the Agriculture Department.
Last year, Washington County finished thirteenth.
