Kenneth Neatherlin announced today that he has successfully negotiated the purchase of the Neatherlin Homes Brand back from Jim Walter Homes. Jim Walter Homes bought Neatherlin Homes in the late 90’s and operated it until it ceased all Jim Walter Homes operations in 2009. Included in the purchase are all the intellectual property rights and the former Neatherlin Homes sales center location on Hwy. 6 in Bryan, TX.
“We are very excited that we could get back our name,” said Kenneth Neatherlin, President and CEO of the “new” Neatherlin Homes, LLC. “We look forward to continuing the reputation that attracted Jim Walter Homes to buy us over a decade ago. We built a quality home then and have developed many substantial improvements and efficiencies that will make our new homes even more appealing to the customer,” continued Neatherlin.
Two new Neatherlin Homes Sales Centers are now open for business. The Neatherlin Homes product line-up will initially include a variety of floor plans, starting with two Grand Opening Special plans that are approx. 1300 SF, 100% complete and prices starting at $74,900. Additional new plans are currently on the drawing board including a “Farm House” and “Cottage” series. These are offered up to 2500 SF.
The new homes are built using a new construction technology developed by GroundFORCE Building Systems – founded by Kenneth Neatherlin, it is the first movable engineered pre-tensioned concrete floor system. The result is a finished house built on a concrete floor that virtually eliminates any structural cracks caused by shifting soils.
Jim Branson has been hired as General Manager of the “new” Neatherlin Homes. Jim was previously with Neatherlin Homes before and after JWH purchased the brand until he became VP of Construction of a nation wide homebuilder. “I’m very happy to be back at Neatherlin Homes,” say Branson. “When Kenneth initially started the conversation about me coming back, I jumped at the opportunity. We had a very good business when Kenneth sold to Jim Walter Homes and I am excited to continue that quality reputation. In fact, we’ve rehired some of the Neatherlin sales team and are open for business in both locations,” concludes Branson.
“Our goal is to develop a product offering that has wide consumer appeal,” said Neatherlin. “The GroundFORCE patented concrete floor system allows us to build to exacting standards and deliver a quality home to our customers. Our product line-up will start with two houses that we intend to target directly against the affordable housing market. The product offering will include larger plans that appeal to different markets, including a 2500 SF house designed to replicate a turn of the century German Farm House but built to include all the modern updates.
