Torch Awards Handed Out To B-CS Businesses With High Workplace Ethics

Many were nominated, but only three took home the Better Business Bureau's Torch award.

The annual event held out at Pebble Creek Country Club honors those who place a high value on marketplace ethics.

The following business were honored with the award:
Category 1 (Small Business) – Awarded to 1-Above Pest Control
Dennis and Katy Fink, owners and operators, of 1-Above Pest Control have been in business for 8 years. Their main focus is to help people solve their problems and to follow the golden rule of treating their customers the same way they would want to be treated. Their hope is that each customer pleased with their service will send them another customer, and their business will snowball.

A reference stated, “He cares about each of us as customers like we are family. His integrity and passion for his work are incredible, and I am always comfortable in knowing that he will be upfront with issues and stating his best thoughts for resolving them.”

Other quotes indicated, “always makes sure our needs have been met; outstanding customer service; professionalism, ethics, and quality of service above reproach; their honesty, genuine character, and their ethical management of their well trained staff are very obvious when they arrive at our home.”

Category 2 (Medium Business) – Awarded to Acme Glass Company
Mitch Morehead, President of Acme Glass, has the philosophy that “you work hard and do what is right, good things will come to you.” The company founder cemented this philosophy by striving to provide professional service and a quality product at a fair price. Because of this philosophy, the company has thrived in the B-CS community for 65 years, and their integrity is second to none. They also believe that the growth of any business depends on its employees – people with initiative, ambition, and enthusiasm, while working in an atmosphere of harmony.

Quotes from some of the reference letters indicate a company, “with a high ethical image; treating customers with care and respect regardless of the circumstances; attention to customer service issues surpasses most in the industry; this company is good for our industry.”

Category 3 (Large Business) – Awarded to C. C. Creations
C. C. Creations and Ken Lawson, President and CEO, has a motto of “Building Better Relationships” which embodies the company’s belief in conducting business with honesty and integrity. They believe that their continued success depends on their ability to continuously strengthen relationships with employees, customer and vendors. They also operate with a “Whatever It Takes” mentality with employees who go above and beyond to make something happen.

Quotes indicated, “This company has always represented honesty, integrity and customer service to its finest degree.”
“They have never failed to meet every single need I have encountered. "They have a true passion for what they do, and they do it well.
” I get the star treatment from them and would like to think it is because I am special or because my organization is one of their biggest clients. I know neither is the case".
"They roll out the red carpet for all of their customers and I am just lucky enough to be one of many.”

The purpose of this award is to recognize those businesses committed to maintaining exceptionally high standards of ethical behavior in buyer and seller relationships. The Torch Award acknowledges the outstanding companies that work to uphold the trust and respect of their customers in the area served by this BBB.
