BRYAN, Texas -- The official ribbon cutting for uRide took place Wednesday afternoon in Bryan.
uRide is a 24/7 on-demand car service designed with college students in mind. Once the student downloads the free app, they can order a ride at any time with the touch of a button on their smartphone. The consumer can watch their car's arrival in real time on their screen as a trained, uniformed driver arrives, greets them by name, ushers them into the car, and escorts them anywhere they need to go. The funds to pay for the service are debited from a prefunded account.
uRide is the next evolution of car service. uRide makes getting around more efficient and more pleasant. uRide is looking to make lifetime value members, once these students that are beginning the trend graduate college, to expand their market and allow people to save money instead of owning their own car. The uRide drivers are employees rather than independent contractors. The service comes with a car, insurance, and gas. The entire fleet of uRide vehicles is made up of 2013 Toyota Prius V's, or what uRide likes to call Eco-limos!
