This week I would like to draw attention to the natural resources for weekend and daily adventures that abound College Station. We do not have much warm weather left and I encourage you to take advantage of it.

There are dozens of parks around College Station, and plenty of things to do in them. Try studying outside in the fresh air rather than the library or at home. There isn’t anything like studying to the chirping birds. Almost every park provides a great course for runners. Research Park on the Texas A&M Campus is among the most popular for running, playing games, and walking dogs. The local woman above is enjoying the beautiful waterfall as she sits and reads a good book. The trails at Research Park are also even with a few hills to challenge you on your run. Fall picnics are a great way to get out with your friends and family. Let the kids run out all that energy, and the adults can lounge on a blanket in the afternoon sun. All in all parks are a highly underrated feature in town. Research has been known to be home to picnicking students on Sundays. However, for those that live farther from this side of campus, it may not be the most convenient location.

Fortunately there are parks all over the city to ensure a short drive (or walk) from most homes. Not sure where the nearest park is located? With 52 different parks I am sure it isn’t far! The City of College Station website provides a fantastic website in support of the local parks. You can find it here. I encourage you to make the most of these last few warm fall days.
