Howdy and welcome back to the Photo of the Week! This week’s post will be short due to the issue at hand.

Sunday, November 18th was the thirteenth anniversary of the tragic Texas A&M Bonfire that took the lives of 12 students and injured 27 others. There is a pillar, or portal to the center of the circle, dedicated to each of the 12 students. Engraved inside the portals is a story from family members about each student’s life, goals, and their involvement in the Bonfire that night.

The memorial is located on the exact spot the 1999 bonfire collapsed at 2:42 AM. Each of the 27 stone with bronze inlays represents a student that was injured in the collapse. Together the 12 portals and 27 stones form a circle to represent the Aggie Ring and the students who have gathered every year after to remember this tragic event.

As we remember this tragic event, I encourage you to stop by the impressive memorial and learn about the 12 students.
