Brazos Valley Food Bank

"Because Hunger Won't Wait" - Because Hunger Won’t Wait is an expansion project of the Brazos Valley Food Bank. Currently, the Food Bank does not have adequate storage space to meet increasing demand for food in the Brazos Valley. Because Hunger Won’t Wait, our expansion project will more than triple the amount of dry food storage and increase the amount of crucial storage space for fresh and frozen food by five times. Because Hunger Won’t Wait, we need to grow the Brazos Valley Food Bank. For more information, visit www.becausehungerwontwait.org.

Who They Are: A central distribution site in the Brazos Valley that unites food and financial donors, volunteers and hunger-relief agencies, the Food Bank reclaims, then distributes surplus food to local partners – nonprofit organizations and church-sponsored pantries – that, in turn, bring nourishment and hope to neighbors in need in Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Madison, Robertson and Washington Counties.

Why We Chose Them: Food is our most basic need. The Brazos Valley Food Bank works daily to ensure that Brazos Valley food pantries and feeding programs have the food they need help their neighbors meet this basic need. Through its special programs – Children’s Backpacks, Senior Bags, Family Boxes and Mobile Food Pantries – the Brazos Valley Food Bank helps feed undeserved populations with needed nutrition, but also hope.

Hunger

The 22nd annual NALC National Food Drive is set for Saturday, May 10, 2014.
“The concept behind the drive is simple: We ask our customers to leave non-perishable food donations at their mailboxes—and we take care of the rest.”
