On the return flight from my trip to Europe, I had quite a bit of time on my hands. Luckily the plane I was on was equipped with a wide variety of programming to keep entertained. I was thrilled to find that Lady Antebellum’s “Own The Night World Tour” documentary was available to watch.

Majority of the film was some great footage of the tour, which I always find exciting. I was not able to see the group live for this tour, so I was very happy to get to see live performances of some of my favorite songs. Lady Antebellum definitely delivers a wonderful show for their fans, that is full of energy, has variation from their studio recordings, and is simply fun to watch.

Although live performances make up the bulk of tour documentaries, in my opinion, the most interesting portion of these types of films are always the behind the scenes clips, because unlike the show that goes on onstage, this footage is not calculated. I think it is fascinating to see the immense about of planning that goes into producing a tour, as well as the spontaneous moments that happen on the road. Something that really stuck with stuck with me from this documentary was a “jam session” between the trio and the band backstage that led to one of my favorite tracks off of “Own The Night”, “Wanted You More” being written.

My favorite feature of the documentary was old footage that gave a glimpse into the trio’s journey to be the musicians they are today. The film included clips from when the group first formed, performing what fans know as some of their hit songs at small venues, and traveling in a rental car promoting their music. Even as a long time fan of the group, I learned so much about Lady Antebellum from this documentary that has made me appreciate them and the music they produce even more than I had.

Fans of Lady Antebellum, and country music in general will definitely appreciate the performances, and stories that make up the “Own The Night World Tour” documentary.
