Safe Haven Soundtrack

Whenever my playlist needs some new additions, I have discovered that movies are a great place to look. I have been introduced to several new artists and favorite tracks by listening to movie soundtracks. A couple weeks after the opening weekend, once the crowds had died down, I finally went to see the latest Nicholas Sparks’ film “Safe Haven”. The beautiful, thoughtful music featured within the film caught my attention from the opening scenes, and by the time the credits were rolling, I was eager to look up the songs that complemented the film so perfectly.

The “Safe Haven” soundtrack contains thirteen tracks. The opening track of the album, “We Both Know”, performed by Colbie Calliat and Gavin DeGraw, was penned and recorded exclusively for the film. Being a long time fan of Colbie Calliat’s music, I was thrilled to see her featured on the soundtrack. In my opinion, a movie set on the coast just wouldn’t be complete without Colbie Calliat’s soothing vocals and laid back musical style.

A couple other tracks I recommend are “Moonshine”,“Violin”, and “Hearts Content”. “Moonshine” by Sara Haze is a happy track, with great lyrics, and a country tone. “Violin” by Amos Lee is a complete contrast from “Moonshine”. With a slow typo and raspy vocals, it is very beautiful and soothing. “Hearts Content” by Brandi Carlile is probably my favorite off the album. It has an old time, jazz quality to the melody, amazing vocals, and unique lyrics.

Happy listening!
