FORT WORTH, Texas - The final "Aggie Heisman" helmet from Aggieland Outfitters, signed by A&M Heisman winners Johnny Manziel and John David Crow, was auctioned off on Sunday night at the Tarrant County A&M Club for $8,000. The helmet was the highest priced auction item of the night, and was the final helmet available for this summer's Coaches Night tour.
The six helmets signed by both Aggie Heisman winners combined to raise $81,600 for scholarships for Texas A&M students, including a fully funded endowed scholarship at the Brazos County A&M Club earlier this summer, where two of the helmets brought in a combined $25,000.
"We were proud to help A&M clubs from around the state raise a substantial amount of money to support Texas A&M students," said Aggieland Outfitters Director of Marketing & Communications Dallas Shipp. "There are many of us at Aggieland Outfitters, including myself, who had to pay our own way through A&M, and this is an honor to help deserving students reach for their dreams at A&M."
Shipp added that while Manziel has been criticized by many in the media this offseason, he doesn't get nearly enough credit for the good things that he does, not only for Texas A&M, but for all sorts of non-profit groups.
