Both Nicki Minaj and her home country of Trinidad and Tobago are on full display in the Young Money artist's music video for "Pound the Alarm."
Filmed in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, the video opens with a steel drum recreating the opening notes of Minaj's stomping dance track. Director Benny Boom quicky moves things along as siren sounds signal Minaj's big-blonde-haired arrival.
As fire breathers, painted in blue, dance next to women decked in feather-adorned headdresses and little else, Minaj shakes and shimmies her way through the streets of her birthplace. The festivities are intercut with moments that showcase the country's remarkable natural beauties, like its coastlines and vegetation.
"Pound the Alarm" is one big celebration. The video, filmed last month, ends with triumphant fireworks and feathers as the "Starships" singer performs in front of thousands of adoring fans.
Nicki Minaj's second album, "Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded," debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 upon its release in April. "Pound the Alarm" sits at No. 39 on the Pop Songs chart.
