Feel free to leave me a comment! I may not be Oprah Winfrey, or have the fashion sense of Elle Woods, but I care about YOU and have so much to share with you when it comes to loving yourself-especially since Jesus loved you first! Enjoy these tips and suggestions to make your Friday even better!
Food for thought:

Coffee with Carly:
‘Behind every successful person is a substantial amount of coffee’ if you want to meet me for a warm cup of joe I’m always ready for a good conversation! For this Friday, since you’ve been the superhero of your life, revive your body and become replenished with KBTX’s Alyssa’s favorite Starbucks drink!
Alyssa and I share the same love for Chic-Fil-A and Starbucks. If the two were healthy and cheap-we would have this combo for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!
To me, Alyssa is a coffee coinsure-so trust me when I say we’re in good hands for today’s ‘Coffee with Carly.’
A VENTI (coffee is a must in the studio) Caramel Macchiato, with an EXTRA pump of caramel (my personal favorite in any brew) along with an EXTRA shot of espresso. Think that we keep you going throughout the day? There’s never a time where I don’t see Alyssa smiling, and ready to handle whatever is thrown at her. Ready for a caffeine boost?
Coffee health tip of the day:
These past couple of weeks I have been coffee conscious as I started to notice negative effects coffee was having on my skin. I have shared with you the benefits of green tea, and how teas and coffee differ. Today, I’d like to make you aware of everyone’s favorite sweetener-Coffee Mate. It’s a Nestle product so we automatically know the Almond Joy, Hazelnut, French Vanilla, Caramel Macchiato, or Mint Chocolate Chip flavors are going to have our taste buds begging for more. Want the truth about Coffee Mate? My ex-bestfriend?
COFFEE-MATE can last two years with no refrigeration, and stays fresh for two weeks once opened – working well in offices where items rarely get put back into the refrigerator. However these minor conveniences don’t make up for the fact that you are putting vegetable oil into your coffee.
I don’t know about you, but any “diary product” substitute that doesn’t have to be refrigerated kinda freaks me out. Last night I had two cups of coffee with 5 pumps of Coffee Mate EACH-I know, guilty-and guess how many breakouts I got in a matter of hours people?! 5. FIVE.F-I-V-E. One for every literal pump. UGH! Please don’t make the same mistakes I did if you have blemish prone skin and drink Coffee Mate.
Our relationship if officially over. As of right now.
Not you reader-the Coffee Mate.
Friday is a day to let loose, reflect on your week (hectic or not) and start to unwind-by perhaps turning on the radio at work, on your ipod after class, or in your car.
Today’s song is brought to you by popular demand.
In honor of this mega-hit coming out on DVD so you can finally enjoy it in the comfort of your home (how long was it in theatres?! TOO LONG is the answer)…may I humbly announce the ENTIRE soundtrack of
Frozen as this week’s Friday Fun Jam!
Frozen hit TV screens everywhere on March 18th selling a grand total of 3.2 million copies on the FIRST day it was released!
For you folks who don’t have children, aren’t interested in animated movies, and/or don’t prefer Disney magic-you might have heard a song or two performed in this year’s Oscars after John Travolta badgered the name of the lead singer-musical-star-ridiculously-talented-take-me-for-who-I-am-wickedly-talented Idina Menzel. (Not-for the love, Adel Dazeem.) Oh and they won an Academy Award for Best Original Song. Basically, it’s the most bad ‘A’ Disney movie that’s ever surfaced the big screen. (Can Disney be bad A? Probably.)
If you missed it, let me enlighten your Friday routine-please click HERE to listen to Frozen’s hit song ‘Let It Go’ sung by little princesses, Good Morning America, college students and beyond!
Oh and the acceptance speech of the two writers Bobby and Kristen Lopez, of ‘Let It Go’ will make you smile. They’re married. And they’re speech goes out to their kiddos. Can you say adorable? Watch it HERE.
Beyond the Disney, catchy, sing-a-long tune, ‘Let It Go’ embraces who you are, who you were meant to be-encouraging everyone young and old to free yourself from societal restrictions and let everything that’s holding you back GO!
Keep dancing and let it go.
So far I’ve given you recommendations for ‘Redeeming Love’ by Francine Rivers, ‘Captivating’ and ‘Wild at Heart’ by John and Stasi Eldredge, ‘Crazy Love’ by Fancis Chan, and ‘Youth Aflame’ by Winkie Pratney, start writing your own story by journaling, Alyssa Bethke and Lindsay Moreau’s blog-all of these are preparing you to open your heart and mind to a better life with Jesus! Not only do they challenge you to look at a perspective beyond the norm in which you’ve created for yourself, they also encourage you to delve into the possibilities of letting go and letting God-in all aspects of your life.
For this week, Bob Goff’s book ‘Love Does’ is recommended by CW 8 Aggieland’s Allison Ricke.
‘Love Does’ is a book and a movement about love in action.
If you’re one that isn’t easily able to become enthralled in a book-this is a read for you. Like Allison and me, we are slow readers. It takes us to basically to have absolutely nothing else on our schedule to actually sit down and read a book. Allison found herself reading multiple chapters in a night!
What’s interesting about ‘Love Does’ is the story by story layout that Bob Goff tells through multiple experiences. Love Does shares powerful stories coupled with eye-opening truths and empowers anyone who longs for a better world and a new perspective on life.
‘For anyone who’s wanted to change the world but thought they needed money, a committee, and permission to get started, Love Does shows what can happen when you decide to do instead of plan, act instead of strategize, and fiercely, invisibly fight to live your life audaciously.’
If this strikes your interest in purchasing ‘Love Does,’ you might be even more convinced in knowing that all the profits from Love Does go to Restore International and The Mentoring Project, organizations seeking to put love into action for those who need it most.
Visit ‘Love Does’’ WEBSITE and watch Bob and his team’s effect on this world as they travel the US and beyond!
A couple weeks ago, my home church in Rockwall, TX called Lake Pointe started a series called ‘Connected.’
As Christians we are constantly longing to stay connected with family and friends and keep connected with Christ throughout our lives.
But what happens when technology interrupts the meaning behind our actions. With the internet at the touch of our finger tips-we are constantly ‘connected’ to multiple outlets- many that which get in the way of personal relationships. We can most definitely use social media and technology devices such as the smart phone, lap top, tablets, and video games in positive ways-but what’s important is to be aware of the wall it can easily build between you and reality.
Stay connected with Christ-and he’ll connect you with the things you long and pray for.
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
ACKNOWLEDGE Him. Get your cell phone out of your face and embrace the journey he’s prepared you for.
