Through all the Super Bowl festivities and celebrations, whether it was eating wings, drinking and yelling at the TV or just enjoying the commercials and chit-chatting it up there were still many awkward and awesome moments to be experienced.
Awkward: The Go Daddy.com commercials. Whether you were with your college buddies, your family, or by yourself, nothing was more uncomfortable than watching the "Perfect Match" commercial featuring a very elongated public display of affection between model Bar Refaeli and Jesse Heiman. This is part of their new "Smart Meets Sexy" campaign, but everyone watching was surely cringing in their seats and looking the other direction.
Awesome: The halftime show. Beyonce, as always, is an amazing performer and definitely impressed yet again at halftime. In the past, there have been costume slip ups, out of date performers and bad lip syncing plaguing Super Bowl halftime shows, but Beyonce blew everyone away with her amazing display of talent. Along with special guests Destiny's Child, the show provided some much needed excitement after a dreary first half of football.
Awkward: After the kickoff return for a touchdown to start the second half, all the lights turned off. During such a huge event, you would assume they had the electrical situation figured out, but that was not the case. After a 34 minute power outage, it seemed as though it was a blessing for the 49ers as the momentum shifted. Unfortunately, it was still not enough to overcome the Ravens. Maybe it was simply Beyonce causing too much heat for the stadium to handle that fried the switch?
Awesome: The Clydesdales: "Brotherhood" Budweiser commercial. This one was a tear jerker for sure. In less than a minute and a half, you are emotionally connected to the horse and his owner and touched by their story. I know this is a tough game, but that was a commercial that pulled at the heart strings. If you need some affection in your life, just watch this and melt.
Awkward or Awesome?: Harbaugh family dinners for the next year. As we all know, it was Jim against John in this face off where John came out victorious over his younger brother Jim. Who do you cheer for as parents? Who do you congratulate and console? It will probably be an awkward situation for the whole family- or perhaps awesome as Raven's coach John Harbaugh now has bragging rights over his brother until the next match up of the two teams. Older and wiser always wins, right?
