“What are going to do after you graduate?” Is a constant question for college students. While many of us struggle to define exactly what it is we want to do for a career, my friend Ty Dillon is the exception. “I want to make music,” he proclaimed two and a half years ago in our high school physics class. Now a freshman at Dallas Baptist University where he majors in music business, Ty is doing exactly that.
Ty released his first single, “If Only You Knew”, on Valentines Day of this year and I was blown away. A true artist had replaced the boy who was constantly humming some tune or another in class. Ty’s single really showcases his vocal and lyrical abilities and could be appreciated by anyone, but would especially resonate with fans of Texas Country favorites, Kyle Park and Josh Abbott.
Since then, Ty has been playing venues locally in the Fort Worth area, diligently promoting his music, and preparing to release his first album. His EP will be released digitally on Thursday April 18th, to all online music retailers.
