Back in August when I started writing for CW8 my first review was “15 Seconds” by Andrew Gross. I loved it and while I was looking for a book this week I found that Gross just released another book, “No Way Back.” As soon as I saw it was by him I purchased it and decided it would be my next review!

The book is based around two women, Wendy Gould and Lauritzia Velez, two women who couldn’t be more different. Wendy Gould is a suburban mom and an ex-cop who is pretty happy with her life. Things soon go wrong when Wendy meets a stranger in a hotel and witnesses his murder. She does the only thing she can think of at the moment, she runs. She is running from federal agents who she soon starts to realize aren’t the good guys. The deeper she gets in this mess the more she is forced to run and hide from the people trying to kill her.

Lauritzia Velez is a nanny for a family that she loves and has come to see as her own. What the family doesn’t know are the deadly secrets of her past. Lauritzia’s past is now coming back to haunt her, whether she likes it or not, and she must decide if she will stay and fight or run and live a life of secrecy.

The book is centered on these two women’s perspective. The whole time I was reading it I knew that somehow their stories would intersect and come together, but with how different each story was I was struggling to figure out how they would. Structuring the story that way was a genius idea by Gross. I couldn’t help continue to turn those pages just so I would be able to figure out what was going to happen next!

I loved how these women were portrayed, they were scared out of their minds, but they were ruthless and wanted the truth and their lives back. They eventually join forces and start on a journey that will take them places they never thought they would be in, in order to find the truth. This book just shows you how quickly someone’s life can change and how far they will go to get it back. In a way it was inspiring because we see these women at their worst and then watch them fight back with strength we didn’t know they had.

Gross did a great job, from the very beginning of the book he pulls you in with these very different storylines. The further I got in the book the more I saw how in-depth he was going to go with the story and it

This story has so many twists and turns that if you decide to read it I suggest you read it quick. Don’t read then some take a few days off and read again because you may forget something very important. A few times I got a couple things mixed up and I had to go back and reread a few pages, but I like those kinds of books because they make you really think about what is all going on.

"No Way Back” was a great, fast-paced thriller and I really enjoyed reading it. It will leave you thinking the whole time if you would have acted the same way these women did or if you would have done something different and a book that makes you think like that are the best books around!

Andrew Gross I have become a fan and I look forward to what is next!
