Madisonville, Texas *Thursday afternoon update*

A Madisonville Police Officer who was checking on a suspicious person found out the man was wanted for capital murder in Houston.

21-year-old Adrian Gomez was arrested on a warrant for the murder of a taco truck owner during a robbery on October 12th in the 8100 block of Fairbanks in North Houston.

The arrest came after Madisonville Police officer Greg McMahon ran a background check on Gomez.

Another suspect was arrested on Monday for the murder by the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitives Task Force and is being held in the Harris County Jail where Gomez was transferred.

A little after midnight Wednesday morning Madisonville Police Officer Greg McMahon was doing a routine patrol and saw Adrian Gomez in the parking lot of the Texas Burger on Highway 21.

Madisonville Police Chief Chuck may says the new officer's quick thinking led to the capture of one of the state's most dangerous fugitives.

"I'm very proud of this young policeman. He is my youngest officer. He removed a felon from our streets and none of our citizens got hurt and hopefully this will bring some closure to the victim's family," said Chief May.

Gomez was taken into custody without incident.
