BRYAN Registered voters in Bryan's 2nd District take to the polls Tuesday to decide who will represent them next on the city council.
Perry Stephney and Rafael Pena say they want to focus on infrastructure.
"Sidewalks. That's very important because a lot of kids I know walk to HEB to go grocery shopping, or they walk to school, and there's no sidewalks to walk on. It's dangerous," said Pena.
"The kids from here that go to Rudder High have to walk on the side of the street. And when traffic comes, and trucks, they have to get into the ditch," said Stephney.
Pena, 22, said his youth is an advantage.
"I think it's time to pass the torch to the younger guys," said Pena.
Stephney, a recently retired career military man, said his years of service taught him to be a leader.
"The reasoning that I have, the judgement that I would use, being capable of making decisions and being decisive," said Stephney.
Voting for the City of Bryan Single Member District Two Council runoff election will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Voters living and registered to vote in county voting precincts 4, 19, 25, 30, 38, 43, 45, 46, and 47 can cast ballots at the Bryan Municipal Building.
Voters are reminded of the new photo ID requirement in order to cast a regular ballot.
