The son of Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul was cuffed coming off a flight to North Carolina after police allege the 19-year-old was boozed up and acting disorderly.

William Hilton Paul was stopped at Charlotte Douglas International Airport when the plane landed just before 11 a.m. Saturday, the Charlotte Observer reported.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Lt. Blake Hollar said he may have been served alcohol on the U.S. Airways flight from Lexington, Ky., to Charlotte. The airline wasn't immediately available for comment Monday.

The teen was charged with consuming beer/wine underage, disorderly conduct and being intoxicated and disruptive, according to Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office. He was booked into Mecklenburg County Jail and posted a $750 bond.

Sen. Paul’s office didn’t comment specifically about the arrest. He was scheduled to travel to Israel on Sunday night as a new member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, ABC News reported.

“Sen. Paul is a national public figure and subject to scrutiny in the public arena,” his office said in a statement. “However, as many parents with teenagers would understand, his family should be afforded the privacy and respect they deserve in a situation such as this.”

William Hilton Paul is also the grandson of former GOP presidential candidate and former Texas Congressman Ron Paul.

The teen reportedly faces a hearing Tuesday.
