Sochi Scene: Medal Movers

SOCHI, Russia (AP) — After taking a day off, Norway is back on its steady medal pace.

Norway was the biggest medal mover on Tuesday, with two golds and two silvers on a day medals were spread around at the Sochi Games. Germany also won two golds as 14 different countries placed in eight events.

The run put Norway back atop the medal standings with 11 medals after 26 events, with Canada second and Germany jumping into third.

Other highlights from the fourth day of medal competition:

— Japan, Korea and Belarus entered the medal standings, with Japan winning silver and bronze in the men's snowboard halfpipe. Korea won gold in the women's 500-meter speedskating and Belarus won gold in the women's 10-kilometer pursuit biathlon.

— When Germany places, it wins gold. Four of Germany's five medals are gold and its one silver came in women's singles luge, where it also took the title.

— Russia, Canada and the United States were relatively quiet with two medals each and one gold for Canada.

There are six more chances for medals on Wednesday, including pairs figure skating and the women's snowboard halfpipe.
