MONTGOMERY COUNTY Three people are arrested after a car chase that spanned several counties.

Around 8 o'clock Tuesday night officers with the Cleveland Police Department were dispatched to the Cleveland Wal-Mart for a report of shoplifting.

When officers arrived on scene, the suspects fled in a vehicle. Police chased three people in a car from the store towards Houston.

During the chase, 20-year-old Brittney Carroll jumped out of the car and officers pursued after her.

While they were searching, one police officer lost control on a wet curve and crashed into the ditch. He suffered minor injuries.

An hour later, Carroll was arrested inside a mobile home and taken to the Montgomery County Jail.

Meanwhile, police chased the two remaining suspects through Montgomery County and into Liberty and San Jacinto Counties.

Police say they reached speeds up to 100 miles per hour.

It wasn't until they reached Polk County that DPS Troopers placed spikes in the roadway.

The driver was identified as Terry Lynn Middleton. Middleton and his passenger, Ronald Lee Hill, were arrested and taken to the Montgomery County Jail.

Investigators say they found drugs and a clip from a pistol inside the vehicle.

Several law enforcement agencies were involved in the chase including Cleveland Police, the Houston Police Department, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, Sheriff's Deputies from Liberty and Polk County and Livingston DPS.
