This weeks app comes just in time for gift giving season. WinePoynt (with a “Y”, not an “I”) is a personalized wine app that allows you to keep track of your favorite wines and give a list of suggested wines. The reason why this sounds like a great gift idea is because if you know your friend’s favorite wine, then you can just use this app and find the perfect gift that they don’t know they want until you give it to them.
This app, however, was not made for gift giving, it was made for you. So I’ll tell you more about how this app can be personalized to fit your wine lifestyle. You can filter your wine searches by price, food pairing and grapes. If you’re at a restaurant and love the wine you’re being served, just scan the barcode and, SHAZAM!, you have a list of wines you may like.
Every time you try a new wine, you can rate it and add a personal note to help narrow you’re criteria for the perfect wine. You can separate your favorite wines into different list for easy organizing. If you are confident enough in your wine list, you can even publish it to help others figure out what they love.
The only thing I do not like about this app is that there are not pictures of the wine labels next to the names of the wine. That, however, can change with your help. You can upload a photo of your wine to the app and your photo will be there for all Winepoynt users to see. This app was just released in early October, so give it some time to work out it’s kinks and you will find yourself enjoying wines you never thought of trying.
