App of the Week: Release Six

Ever wonder how on Earth you spent your paycheck in a matter of days when it was suppose to last you a couple of weeks? There’s no way you spent $200 this past weekend. You must have “dropped” your money somewhere, right? Well, unless you really do have butter fingers and are prone to actually dropping your money on sidewalks, I’d say you need a little help in the budgeting department. And that, my friends, is where this week’s App of the Week comes into play.

This app isn’t new, but it’s definitely note-worthy. It’s called Mint. This app pulls all your financial information into one place. Don’t worry, your account information is safe. Mint uses the same encryption security thank banks use, so all your data is protected.

Basically, what this app allows you to do, is manage all of your account balances and transactions to help you understand where your money is going. Every purchase is automatically filed into categories that you can personalize or re-name to better fit your lifestyle.

As a sad reminder of your dwindling bank account, Mint can alert you when your dough is running low and even send you bill reminders, so that you can avoid unnecessary late fees.

The app, if used to it’s full potential, will most definitely save you money. You will become more aware of where you money is going, and maybe think twice about that $5 latte next time you see a Starbucks cup walk by. It's a free app, so give it shot and see how much you can save by just being aware of where it's going.

Until next week,
Ali Strickland
