Pick ‘Em 3
Now that school is in full swing, I don’t have time to spend all day on Sunday watching football. But just because I don’t have time doesn’t mean I don’t do it anyway! My grades may be suffering but my football GPA is sky-high! I missed some picks pretty bad last Sunday, but I’m feeling good about this week! It’s time to get back on track. (Also, how about those Texans!?)
Giants (-1.5) at Panthers– This will be a telling game for both teams. I think that is the Panthers can win, they prove that they want to be seen as contenders in the NFC South this season. If the Giants pull it out, they establish that they are still a great football team that you can never sleep on. I think that Eli and the Giants will be too much for the Panthers and win this one on the road.
Rams at Bears (-7.5) – Statement game for Chicago. I think that the Bears pitiful offensive performance last week was a little fluky and they get back on track at home with a comfortable win against the Rams. Having said that, I think that the Rams have a chance to make this a very good game. This will be fun to watch, but I’m sticking with the Bears.
Buccaneers (+7) at Cowboys – The Cowboys do it every year – they look like the 1985 Bears one week and the 2008 Lions the next. Josh Freeman looked close to his 2011 form last week even though the Bucs blew a big lead and I think they find a way to keep it close against the Cowboys at Jerryworld.
Lions (-3) at Titans – I don’t see the Titans defense stopping Matt Stafford and Megatron. At all. Especially after seeing what the Patriots passing offense did in Tennessee.
Bengals at Redskins (-3.5) – Robert Griffin III is a great fantasy quarterback, but he can only carry his team so far. I think that the Bengals go into DC and at least cover now that they have some video of Griffin and know his tendencies.
49ers (-7) at Vikings – We knew that the 49ers would have one of the premier defenses in the league, but I don’t think anybody thought that their offense would click like it is. I like San Fran.
Jets (-2.5) at Dolphins – Miami looked pretty good last week and the Jets didn’t, but the Jets get back on track this week and lay it on Tannehill and the Dolphins in Miami.
Chiefs (+9) at Saints– Both of these teams are 0-2 and this line seems awfully high. This is a defining game for both teams and until the Saints show that they can hold a team under 30 points, I’m betting against them.
Bills (-3) at Browns – The Browns are horrible. Weeden is horrible. And the Bills are slightly above horrible…I’d say 3.5 points better than horrible.
Jaguars at Colts (-3) – This will be an interesting game. Both of these teams are fighting for relevance and I think the Colts find a way to win and cover at home.
Eagles at Cardinals (+3.5) – The Eagles have won both of their games by a combined 2 points this season, and the Cardinals proved they are not a team to be taken lightly by going into Foxboro and beating the Patriots last Sunday. I’ll take the Cardinals getting 3.5 and I really like it.
Falcons (+3) at Chargers – Both of these teams have looked good this season, but the performance the Falcons put on Sunday night impressed me. Plus this is on the west coast so they’re gaining 3 hours. I’ll happily take them getting 3 points in this one.
Texans (-2) at Broncos – The Texans held the Jaguars to 117 total yards of offense. 117! Now, I’m admittedly a Texans fan but until the defense shows any sign of weakness, I’m taking the Texans to cover. Even at Mile High.
Steelers (-4) at Raiders – The Raiders have been anything but impressive this season. I had Carson Palmer as one of my sleepers and that was a major bust. Run DMC is as good as ever (until he get hurt) but that’s all they have going for them. I’m sticking with the always-solid Steelers.
Patriots at Ravens (-3) – Both of these teams are coming off losses in week 2. If this game was in Foxboro, I’d probably like the Patriots. But, it’s in Baltimore so I’m sticking with the home favorite.
Packers at Seahawks (+3.5) – Always take the Seahawks at home. Especially when they are underdogs. Always.
Last Week: 7-8-1
