Breaking Up: Get Over It

The dating life isn't always so pretty. I decided to talk about something we never hope to happen when we get in a relationship, but it does. Breaking up is always hard, no matter if you're the dumper or the dumpee. I've made a list of how to get over a breakup, so you won't be too down in the dumps and ready to move on.

1. Get rid of things that you remind you of that other person. The more you hold on to all that garbage, you will constantly remain hurt. If you have clothes or other returnable items, be nice and just give them back.

2. Hang out with friends. This will help keep your mind off of your ex and nothing is more fun than hanging out with all your friends. Since you didn't hang out with them so much when you were dating someone, you'll have a lot of catching up to do.

3. Do NOT drunk dial
RESIST the urge to drunk dial or text! You do not need to embarrass yourself nor come off as desperate. If you guys are meant to be friends, give it some time (you guys can become friends at a much later date).

4. Keep your options open. Now that you're single, you'll be ready to mingle again! However, don't rush too fast into getting back into a relationship. Have fun and meet people without having to be so serious.

5. Do something nice for yourself. All during your relationship, you had to think about two people. Now you can just focus on yourself. You don't have to worry about someone else's opinions. Go have fun and treat yourself to whatever you like.

Just remember that each breakup is just a new lesson to learn. You'll go into your next relationship, much better and can focus on keeping that spark I mentioned in my previous post.
