This idea was inspired by something my mother and some of her friends did in their offices. Since the walls in their offices were a neutral color, they decided to make the rooms unique by decorating the light wallplates to match the particular theme of the room.
Here are a few simple steps on how to go about making your own personalized wallplate or electrical outlet:
1. Buy a few plastic wallplates and electrical covers. Usually a Dollar Store will have them at an inexpensive cost. If you have acrylic paints you can use them or buy decorative craft rolls of tape, duct tape, wallpaper or contact paper.
2. Decorate the wallplate in any way you like by either painting on it, using the rolls of tape, wallpaper, or contact paper to cover the wallplate. If you use the tape or paper, make sure that you wrap the wallplate completely and secure it around the back at least 1/2 inch. Use a knife or scissors to cut away any excess material.
3. Install the wallplate or electrical cover on the wall and enjoy your newly fashioned covers!
