There are many “big days” for makeup use and abuse, and Valentine’s Day is one of them.

If you’re going out with your sweetheart or hoping Cupid comes along, you’ll want to look your best!

The first tip is don’t overdo it! You don’t want to look like you are trying too hard! My number one rule is do not attempt a smoky grey eye. It’s overrated, overused and gives the appearance of a black eye to most girls.

I suggest applying a natural looking foundation and a light pink blush. After that, you have three different options.

1. Go completely natural: a natural pink or nude gloss with pink/brown/champagne eyeshadow.

2. Play up your eyes! Apply a fun eyeshadow! Try greens, purples, blues and pinks and apply a nude lipstick or gloss.

3. Play up your lips! Apply a bright pink or red lipstick/gloss and wear neutral eyeshadow.

With all of those options, make sure you apply eyeliner and a double coat of mascara on your top and bottom lashes.

If you want a little extra glow, mix a luminous powder with your moisturizer before you apply your foundation. You’ll be amazed at the result!
