COLLEGE STATION Child abduction survivor Elizabeth Smart was in College Station Thursday to speak at a "Healthy Woman Annviersary Celebration".
The event was held at the College Station Hilton. Smart gave the keynote address on her experiences as a survivor of a nationally followed abduction case from 2002. She sat down with News 3's Karla Castillo on how she was able to get past the traumas she went through.
"Everybody has problems, and it's always good to hear a story of hope, but even more than that there are so many people who haven't come forward, who haven't shared their stories yet and are still living in an abusive situation every single day," Smart told News 3's Karla Castillo, "...and if you go out and speak out about it, maybe that'll give them the courage to come forward."
An extended interview with Elizabeth Smart will air Friday on First News at Four.
