After denying the news several days ago when the New York Post first reported it, Elton John's rep is confirming it.
The singer has announced on his website that he and David Furnish have become parents for a second time.
The site links to a Hello! exclusive in which the two say they are "overwhelmed with happiness" at the birth of Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John.
The baby boy was born Friday in Los Angeles to a surrogate mother. He weighed in at 8 pounds, 4 ounces.
John, 65, and Furnish, 50, who wed in 2005, are parents to Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John, born in California in December 2010, also through a surrogate mother.
They two tell Hello! magazine that "the birth of our second son completes our family in a most precious and perfect way."
