You've seen the ads - the sleazy Silk Stocking of old is gone and an all-new and totally remodeled gentlemen's club awaits your enjoyment.
Unfortunately, it seems that some may be enjoying themselves a bit too much in College Station's most fabric-free establishment.
An article in Monday's The Eagle, "VIP room at topless club draws heat", alleges a new policy at The Silk Stocking allows the consensual touching of dancers' breasts and buttocks once a patron pays $100 to enter the VIP room.
While the paper was unable to prove any further sexual encounters were taking place under the cover of the VIP room, the club may still be running afoul of the law. Eagle writer Brooke West explains:
"Such touching — when done for hire — is considered under the law as sexual conduct, which officers and prosecutors say falls under the definition of prostitution. The crime is a Class B misdemeanor and is punishable by up to 180 days in jail and a $2,000 fine."
After hearing of the alleged antics at The Silk Stocking from West, Brazos County Attorney Rod Anderson and College Station Police Chief Jeff Capps have pledged that their departments will look into the matter. Undoubtedly, it'd be a tough assignment to have to take on.
We reached out to The Silk Stocking for comment, but they were unavailable at the time and have not gotten back to us.
We're pretty sure their reply, however, would have gone something like this:
