Country crooner Jason Aldean is coming clean about his honky-tonk hanky-panky.
The married 35-year-old singer caused a stir after he was recently snapped smooching American Idol alum Brittany Kerr, 24, in an extramarital tryst.
He's already publicly apologized for that, but now he's opening up even further about the impact of the cheating scandal, the people who've helped him through it, and how he and his family are doing in its wake.
"I think when it comes to all the things that have been going on lately, it's just been a tough situation," he told CMT Insider on Monday.
"I know everybody's kinda going to have their opinion, and for the people that know me...and the people that are standing by us and supporting us, all I've got to say to them is thanks...It's just been a really unfortunate thing. Really embarrassing, I think, more than anything."
He also explained that it was important to face the backlash head-on rather than wither in shame.
"You can handle it two ways: You can go hide and run from it, or you can get up and face it and deal with it," he offers. "And that's kind of what we tried to do and just kind of move on."
As for his family, the crooner said that things are slowly on the mend as they rebuild their trust in private.
"The main thing is that me and my family are OK and everything's good there," he shared. "So I think it's been a tough deal. But I kind of said what I needed to say to them, and, hopefully, they understand that and the rest of it will be us dealing with it in private and trying to fix it. It's good, though."
Aldean was photographed kissing Kerr in a crowded Sunset Strip bar two weeks ago, and he quickly apologized on Facebook for cheating on his wife, Jessica Ussery, with whom he has two daughters. "The truth is that I screwed up," he wrote.
Kerr, for her part, also 'fessed up to the randy romp, calling it a "lapse in judgment" that was "not a representation of my true character."
