Jay-Z and Coldplay will team up once again this New Year's Eve. The musical besties will both take the stage at the Barclays Center on December 31 for a joint performance to ring in 2013.
The announcement came via the rapper's Life and Times website. And the British rock band opened up about the gig on their website. In a statement on their site they shared that they "will round off a memorable year by performing a very special co-headline show with Jay-Z at Barclays Center, Brooklyn.
"This will be the second time in two years that Coldplay has celebrated New Year with long-term friend and collaborator Jay-Z, the band having shared the bill with him at a Las Vegas concert in 2010," the statement continued. "More recently, Jay-Z performed onstage with Coldplay at the spectacular London 2012 Paralympic Games Closing Ceremony."
While Jay-Z has already knocked out a slate of shows at the Barclays earlier this fall, Coldplay have confirmed they have scheduled another date there. They will also take the stage on December 30 with Naturally 7 as their support act. The band continued, "The two Brooklyn dates also mark the first Coldplay shows that have been put on sale in NYC since September 2005."
Back in September, Hova opened up to MTV News about his shows at the Barclays. He has a close relationship with the venue. He is not only a minority owner in the Brooklyn Nets, but also the director of Brooklyn Arena LLC, the company that owns Barclays. He said, "It's pretty much a celebration of having a team in Brooklyn — you know, again, everybody knows we hadn't had a team since the Dodgers, so it's really a happy time in Brooklyn."
Jay-Z isn't the only MC set to rock NYC on NYE. Nas will take the stage in Manhattan at Radio City Music Hall on December 31 for a special stop on his Life Is Good tour.
Tickets for the Barclays Center show go on sale November 17.
