Jeff Gordon Making a Pit Stop in College Station

COLLEGE STATION – One of NASCAR’s most popular drivers is making a pit stop in College Station.

Jeff Gordon is coming to town April 3 to show off the Aggie maroon car he will drive in the Duck Commander 500 at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth.

As KBTX first reported in February, the custom paint job was paid for by Axalta Coating Systems. Their CEO, Charles Shaver, earned an engineering degree from Texas A&M in 1980. His company and The College of Engineering, will also be featured on the car.

Gordon will hold a news conference at Rudder Theater on April 3 at 4:00 p.m., which we will stream live on KBTX.com. Following the news conference, Gordon will attend a private meet and greet.

Your chance to see Gordon and the car in person comes at 5:30 p.m. Gordon will be there for the unveiling of the new design on the Texas A&M campus. The Texas A&M Yell Leaders, Texas Aggie Dance Team and Reveille will be out there as well. People are encouraged to park in the West Campus Parking Garage, then walk through the Pickard Pass tunnel and down Joe Routt Blvd. to Rudder Tower.

The race is the following Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway. Joining Gordon and the Aggie maroon car on pit row will be members of the 12th Man Pit Crew, a group of 28 engineering students chosen by the College to attend the race.
