Personally, I think live music makes an evening one to remember. So, obviously, one of my favorite things about Bryan/College Station is you can almost always find live music and luckily this weekend isn’t any different. Here’s a rundown of this weekend’s music scene.
The 5th Annual Harestock Music Festival: Have yourself a Sunday Funday at Harestock, The fifth annual great American boxcar festival! Harestock will take place at 12:00pm, Sunday, August 19th at the Beer Joint. The Festival will include three stages that will feature a total of 30 Texas bands and acoustic musical acts. Harestock is not only a good time, but it is also 100% non-profit festival that raising money for different charitable organizations. The Emotions: If you’re looking for some Texas Dance Hall music, mosey on over to Lakeside Icehouse in Bryan. The Emotions will take the stage at 8:00 pm on Friday. This band is unique and record-setting. According to their website, “they hold more attendance records in the South Central Texas area than any other band ever.” I’m pretty impressed. and if that isn’t enough While you’re enjoying the music, you can also enjoy some great drink specials. Get $3.00 domestics and 2.74 Wells from 5:00pm to 1:00pm.
Cody Jasper: Saturday at Schotzi's listen to Cody Jasper! This Texas rock star plays, “modern day blues and southern rock" that makes me want to get up and sing along. His recent move to Austin has made his career take off, and now Jasper isn’t just making an impression in Texas he has upcoming tour dates scheduled in Colorado and Kansas! Last, but not least my must see for this weekend! Colby Keeling: This Lufkin native and senior Aggie student will be performing Friday at Church Street BBQ. Colby is and up and coming singer who began playing in College Station bars about three years ago. He plays a mix of country music and classic rock, influenced by everyone from Tom Petty to Miranda Lambert. Don’t worry if you miss your fellow Ag this weekend, Colby isn’t going away anytime soon. He has many upcoming shows including a performance at Zapatos Cantina’s “Back to School Bash” on August 25th. Check CW8’s event calendar for more of his concert dates.
